The office of President Shim'on Peres said, Tuesday, that it was still waiting for a response from United States President Barack Obama on his request to release Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for passing classified information from the U.S. to Israel, according to the Maariv daily.

The office echoed a statement made earlier in the day by the Committee for Pollard that rejected a statement by a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council that there had not been a policy change.
