Suleiman: Islamists Threatening Me

Omar Suleiman, who is running for the presidency of Egypt, said Monday that Islamist groups had threatened his life over his decision to run for the office. Although many support his bid, he has received a significant number of threats. Islamist parties have declared that they would do everything they could to ensure that he is not elected, with a spokesperson for the Salafist party saying that “we will not sit by while Suleiman runs.”

Speaking in an interview Monday, Suleiman said that he was the best choice for president, because only he could “prevent chaos and return Egypt to stability and security.”
