Tzvika Fogel: Dealing with Sinai Threat Only by IDF

Reserves General Tzvika Fogel said Sunday, that despite the publicity about Egypt sending troops to the Sinai Peninsula, it's not about fighting terrorism on a big scale and not about protecting the citizens of Israel. Interviewed by Arutz Sheva's Hebrew service, he said the Supreme Military Council wants to stabilize the flow of cash into the country, generated by the natural gas pipeline to Israel and Jordan, which has been sabotaged thirteen times by terrorists. He added that the council also wants to show that it's ruling the area.

The former head of the southern headquarters said the responsibility for the safety of Israel continues to be the Israel Defense Forces and hinted that some Sinai terrorists would be eliminated soon without their elimination being tied to Israel, noting military intelligence chief Avi Cochavi's report that ten terror attack attempts were foiled in recent months.
