Barak: Assure Gov. Function with Court's Independence

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said, Sunday afternoon, that Justice Minister Ya'akov Ne'eman's proposed bill to enable the Knesset to pass laws struck down by the Supreme Court, "is not the right solution to the dispute at hand."

In expressing his reservations about the proposal, Barak said that open dialogue had to be established between the government and the justice system "to reach agreed courses of action to ensure the ability of the government and the Knesset to function, along with ensuring the independence of the High Court and the rule of law in all circumstances."
