MK Gafni: Fischer 'Cut Off from Reality'

Knesset Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni said that Bank of Israel chairman Stanley Fischer was “cut off from reality,” and was unaware of the day to day struggles of average Israelis. In an interview with Ma'ariv, Gafni said that he was “aware and grateful” for Fischer's contributions to the Israeli economy, but that Fischer needed to deal with issues of values and society, and not just economics, when setting policy.

Gafni said that he would demand more active policies from the BOI during the next Knesset session to deal with the effect of high prices and other economic problems on average Israelis.
