In a Thursday ceremony at the office of the Chief Rabbinate in Jerusalem, Chief Executive Officer Yehuda Shoshani of Citipass, which operates the Jerusalem light rail, appointed Israel's chief rabbis as agents for selling chametz (leavened products) that might be found in the light rail. Shoshani told the rabbis that the line's rolling stock had received a thorough cleaning for the holiday.
This is the first year that the light rail sold its chametz. It began operating after the holiday, last year.
