Peugot Hurt by Lack of Iranian Parts

Operations at a Peugeot-Citroen auto plant in northeastern France have been suspended until at least September because of the lack of spare parts from Iran, according to union officials cited on Thursday by Agence France Presse. The company halted activity with Iran on February 20 when economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic for its nuclear development program went into effect.

Management put 220 employees at the factory in partial redundancy for the month of April due to a slowdown caused by the lack of parts. A union source said that the latest decision will require redeploying another 300 workers and the reduction of 300 part-time jobs.
