Work Starts on Itamar Synagogue as Terror Memorial

A contractor was chosen and work began this week on a central synagogue for the Samarian community of Itamar, which has had to make do with a temporary prefabricated structure consisting of five mobile homes. The facility is being built in memory of the 20 people who have fallen victim to terror attacks in the community's 28-year history, but the impetus to proceed only came with last year's murder of five members of the Fogel family.

While the public at large has responded with contributions for the synagogue, the Itamar Development Association could use more. The association distributed thousands of books, this week, for learning the laws of Passover. The books were written in memory of Yoav Fogel in response to students who wanted to learn something in his memory.
