The gainers outnumbered the losers at the end of a relatively quiet day of trading, Thursday at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The TA Composite index rose .22 percent to 1041.89, while the TA 100 closed at 1,053.46, up .18 percent, including a .29 percent advance to 1,144.85 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues. The 50 stocks outside the TA 100 rose .66 percent to 374.42.
Leading the gainers were the bank stocks, which rose 1.32 percent to 1,034.11 as the financial institutions finished the day at 955.79, up 1.01 percent, including a .71 rise to 1,086.67 by the insurance index. The real estate issues closed at 299.20, up 1.03 percent, and the biomed stocks rose .95 percent to 765.09, while the rest of the technology index declined .48 percent to 325.15. The communications/media issues finished the day at 615.02, down two tenths of a percent, while the oil and natural gas stocks fell 1.16 percent to 1,264.11.
