For the first time, the Humash – the first five books of the Hebrew Bible – has been translated directly from biblical Hebrew to Amharic. The translation was published by Koren.
Religious texts used by the Ethiopian Jewish community were in the ancient Ethiopian language of Ge’ez, and had apparently been translated from Greek texts translated from the original Hebrew.
