A judge on a Beit Din (court of Jewish law) agreed to a corrupt offer prohibited by criminal law, Reshet Bet reported Wednesday. The Petach Tikva judge allegedly either proposed or agreed to an offer that would have seen a man give his wife a get (Jewish divorce) – in exchange for her younger sister dropping sex crimes charges against him.

The sister continued to press charges, and the man was found guilty last month of committing sexual offenses against her beginning when she was 14.

Representatives from the Beit Din system said they will look into the charges against the Beit Din judge in question.
