Barak Preparing Operational Plan for Hevron Eviction

Contrary to earlier reports, the Defense Ministry has not changed the 3:00 p.m. expiration of its ultimatum to Jewish residents of Beit Hamachpelah (Machpelah House) in Hevron to leave peaceably or be removed by force, in spite of a request by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Defense Minister Ehud Barak to delay the eviction. Barak has said that the residents must be removed in the interest of public order in Hevron

Despite a statement, Monday, by representatives of the Civil Administration for Judea and Samaria, that the documents for the purchase of the house were in order, Arab Mayor Khaled Oseili of Hevron told Israel Defense Forces Radio, Tuesday morning, that the documents were forgeries, adding that there were criminal cases against those involved in the sale for forging documents on other houses and that the Arab who sold the house to the Jews is not the real owner.
