Tunisia Extends State of Emergency to End of April

President Moncef Marzouki of Tunisia announced, Sunday, that emergency laws declared after the ouster of President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011 would be extended to the end of April. Marzouki's office cited danger to the public in some areas.

The announcement marked the fifth time the laws have been extended. The laws allow security forces to shoot those who disobey their orders.
