Most of the indices at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted modest gains at the start of trading on Monday. About a quarter of an hour into the session, the TA Composite index stood at 1,028.63, .26 percent above Sunday's close, while the TA 100 rose .27 percent to 1,041.88, including a .19 percent gain to 1,131.57 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
The insurance stocks led the gainers, advancing .95 percent to 1,037.12, as the the financial institutions opened up at 926.37, up .37 percent despite a .15 percent decline to 1,002.71 by the bank index. The real estate issues rose .61 percent to 288.33 and the communications/media stocks stood at 629.32, up .44 percent. Most of the technology index rose three tenths of a percent to 324.72, while the biomed issues stood at 741.45, up .29 percent, and the oil and natural gas stocks rose .14 percent to 1,240.77
