Al-Assad I Accept Annan Plan - If Terror Stops

President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria promised, Thursday evening, that he would spare no effort to bring about the peace plan of United Nations envoy Kofi Annan. In a letter to leaders of developing nations, meeting in New Delhi,  he demanded that armed groups in Syria commit to Anan to stop what he called "acts of terror", according to the Syrian state news agency.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demanded that the Al-Assad translate his promises into actions immediately and put an end to the bloodshed in his country. Adressing the Arab League summit in Baghdad, Ban said that Al-Assad's agreement to implement the Annan plan was an important step that could bring about an end to the year-old violence.
