Moderate gains were posted on most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange on Monday. The TA Composite index rose 1.7 percent to 1,037.76, while the TA 100 closed at 1,052.23, up 1.76 percent, including a 1.86 rise to 1,148.96 by the Maof 25 most-widely invested issues.
Leading the way were the insurance stocks, which jumped 2.56 to 1,015.92, followed by the bank index, which closed at 1,050.89, up 2.16 percent, as the financial institutions rose 2.03 percent to 941.92. The communications/media issues finished the day at 657.10, up 2.22 percent, and the oil and natural gas stocks rose 2.06 percent to 1,263.82. The biomed index closed at 747.41, up 2.01 percent, while the rest of the technology issues rose .98 percent to 322.67. The real estate index closed at 288.82, up 1.54 percent.
