Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange recorded modest to sharp gains at the end of a slow first day of the trading week on Sunday. The TA Composite index rose .77 percent to 1,020.44, while the TA 100 closed at 1,034.01, up .84 percent, including an advance of 1.09 percent by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the gainers were the bank stocks, which jumped 3.08 percent to 1,028.37, as the financial institutions finished the day at 923.17, up 2.34 percent, including a .46 percent gain to 990.58 by the insurance index. The real-estate issues finished the day at 284.44, up 1.53 percent, while the oil and natural gas stocks rose 1.14 percent to 1,238.34. While the biomed index closed at 732.65, up .54 percent, the rest of the technology stocks declined .42 percent to 319.54. The communications and media index advanced .05 percent to 642.86.
