Israeli researchers have discovered the reason for enlarged prostates, a problem which plagues many middle-aged men. Doctors Yigal Gat and Menachem Goren discovered that in such instances, a vein moves a high amount of testosterone into the prostate. Treatment of the vein reduces the prostate, and alleviates the problem.
The study featuring the findings appears this month in a German medical journal. The journal states that the discovery has the potential to “substantially change” the way prostate problems are treated.
