State Satisfied with Citipass

Citipass, the winner of the franchise for operating Jerusalem's light rail, received full operating authority from the Ministry of Transportation on Thursday, upon the company putting all its rolling stock into service, demonstrating its compliance with goals set by the ministry and maintaining strict safety standards. Under an agreement signed between Citipass and the ministry, the company will receive the remainder of its grant for setting up the line.

Frequency of the trains has improved to every six minutes during peak hours and the time needed to travel between one end of the line and the other has been reduced to 48 minutes. About 70,000 people ride the train every day and seven million rides have been recorded since the start of operations.
