Nevatim Airport Lobby Launched

The Knesset lobby for establishment of an international airport in the Negev town of Nevatim initiated activities, Monday, with a call to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other ministers to act to advance the construction of the airport. Joining members of the lobby were Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, other Knesset members, local leaders from the area of the proposed site and environmental groups.

Lobby Co-Chairman Avishai Braverman said, "The resistance of the army and the Defense Ministry is understood and there is no doubt that establishment of the airport in Nevatim will pile on difficulties. At the same time, I have no doubt - a position supported by former senior army and air force officials - that the Defense Ministry can and must prepare accordingly."
