'Tzohar Law' Cleared for First Reading

The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee cleared for first-reading, Sunday, a bill by Fania Kirschenbaum (Yisrael Beiteinu), that would allow Jewish couples to register to marry and receive documentation from any authority that is authorized to register marriages.

The measure has been called the "Tzohar Law" after the Tzohar rabbinical organization, which has initiated efforts to make it easier for couples to have Orthodox Jewish weddings by eliminating jurisdictional problems.
