Hebrew University to Launch Einstein Archives Website

On Monday, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will hold a news conference to launch the all-new, expanded Albert Einstein Archives website. The site will make all of Einstein’s archived documents available to the general public for the first time. The launch will be marked simultaneously at Princeton University, Caltech, the Hebrew University's Friends organizations and Israeli embassies around the world.

The new website will contain more than 80,000 records of all the documents at the Hebrew University’s Einstein Archives. These include more than 40,000 documents contained in Einstein’s personal papers and over 30,000 additional documents discovered since the 1980s. New documents presented at the press conference will include Einstein's letter to Azmi El-Nashashibi, the editor of Falastin, suggesting an original solution to the Jewish-Arab conflict; a letter to the Jewish community in Berlin describing the distinction between Jewish religion and Jewish nationalism; a speech to a Zionist meeting containing a report on a fundraising campaign in the United States for the Hebrew University and a moving postcard to his sick mother.
