Stabbing Victim Taken Off Respirator

A soldier who came close to being stabbed in the heart, Thursday morning, on Jerusalem's light rail, regained consciousness and was taken off a respirator on Friday, according to Kol Yisrael government radio. The soldier was making telephone calls to her family. Hospital officials said she won't need surgery, but will remain for observation.

Security guards and police arrested a suspect in the stabbing as he tried to go from Jerusalem to the Palestinian Authority via the Kalandia Crossing, Thursday afternoon.
