Member of Knesset Ze'ev Elkin stated on Wednesday, "The reality which we face is the result of the disengagement of Kadima." MK Elkin said that the public was warned of the consequences of leaving Gaza and deporting all Jewish residents. He said that he was waiting for an apology "to the residents of Be'er Sheva, Ashdod, Sderot, Netivot and other residents of the Negev." MK Elkin argued that when Israel held the Gaza region, the rocket attacks did not reach as far as they do today. MK Elkin is a former member of the Kadima party before switching to Likud. Kadima was the party in power when the Disengagement from Gaza was implemented in 2005.
