As runners around the world get in shape for Friday's second annual Jerusalem marathon, commuters are getting ready for major road closures. The race is set to begin Friday morning March 16th start at 6am. Roads to be closed of to all public and private transportation will be: King George Street, Jaffa Road, Bezalel, Shlomzion Hamalka, David Remez Street, Azza, Emek Refaim, Pierre Koenig, most of Derech Hevron, Derech Beitlechem, and side streets in the Talpiot/ Geulim neighborhoods, Tchernichovsky in the Katamon area, Haim Bar-Lev Blvd, and other major streets. Egged bus service will be curtailed during the race. The public advised that transportation to such locations as downtown Jerusalem and the Mahane Yehuda marketplace except by foot may not be possible.
