Modest losses were posted on most indices of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange at the start of trading on Monday. The TA Composite index stood at 978.94, down .32 percent, while the TA 100 declined .36 percent to 990.78, including a .42 percent drop to 1,080.19 by the Maof 25 most-widely invested issues. The 50 stocks just outside the TA 100 rose .08 percent to 332.03.
With most of the technology index unchanged at 299.50, the biomed issues advanced .15 percent to 717.82. Real estate stocks declined .35 percent to 271.94, while the insurance issues opened at 917.72, down .38 percent, as the financial institutions declined .77 percent to 821.24, including a .66 percent drop by the bank stocks to 900.14. The oil and gas index stood at 1,166.03, down .49 percent and the communications/media issues fell .51 percent to 634.39.
