Syrian Forces Kill 16 in Idlib

Syrian security forces shelled in and around the northern city of Idlib, Sunday, killing 16 people, according to a British-based Syrian human-rights group. The group said four government troops were killed in clashes with anti-government forces.

Syria mined the area along the Turkish border during the last month, according to eyewitnesses cited by the Associated Press. Volunteers working on behalf of the Syrian people said they succeeded in uncovering and neutralizing hundreds of these mines, enabling Syrians to flee to its northern neighbor.
