The Honenu legal-aid organization reported, Sunday, that a Jewish youth who was arrested, Friday evening, following attacks by Arabs on Jewish worshippers at the tomb of Shimon Hatzaddik in Jerusalem, was released on bail, Sunday was ordered to stay away from the neighborhood for three weeks.
Police had sought a three-month ban. Police were called in after Arabs chased the worshippers into the structure housing the tomb, hitting them with clubs and metal batons. They charged the youth with throwing a stone and forced him into a patrol car after he offered to walk to the police station rather than desecrate Shabbat. His remand was extended Saturday night without him having a chance to contact Honenu, which represented him at Sunday's hearing at the Jerusalem Magistrates Court.
