Chairman Amnon Cohen of the Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee said, Sunday, that the state should consider increasing the average space for a prisoner in the Israel Prisons Service. His comment followed a committee tour of the Abu Kabir Prison in Tel Aviv.

While the 3.5 square meters per prisoner was viewed as reasonable, it is half the space afforded prisoners in Europe.
