Opposition activists in Syria reported that heavy clashes broke out on Sunday night between Syrian military forces and rebels who launched a coordinated attack on military checkpoints along the city of Deraa.
The activists said in a statement, “The Free Syrian Army attacked several checkpoints and fortifications simultaneously. Tanks are responding by firing anti-aircraft artillery into residential neighborhoods, and army snipers are firing at anything that moves, even plastic bags.”
