A private initiative has been started to hold a demonstration, Saturday in Tel Aviv's Beit Ariella Plaza to promote the ouster of Member of Knesset Hanin Zoabi (Balad National Democratic Assembly). The initiative follows a decision not to prosecute Zoabi for her participation in May 2010 attempt by the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara to break the Gaza naval blockade. Violence against the Israeli commandos who boarded the boat led to the death of nine Turkish activists and wounding of dozens of others, including commandos.
Interviewed on Arutz Sheva's Hebrew journal, Lavi Gutkind, one of the organizers, made it clear that it's not enough to demand Zoabi's ouster. He said he would demand proper legislation to make it possible to oust a Knesset member whose parliamentary activity harms Israel and its sovereignty. He invited participation from anyone for whom freedom of expression is important, but not at the expense of security.
