On a day of light trading, most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange started the trading week with modest gains on Sunday. The TA Composite index rose .59 percent to 994.02, while the TA 100 closed at 1,005.59, up .64 percent, including a six-tenths of a percent gain to 1,098.48 by the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues.
Leading the way were the bank stocks, which rose .66 percent to 928.88 as the financial institutions finished the day at 845.76, up .57 percent, including an advance of .51 percent to 933.14 by the insurance issues, right ahead of the real-estate stocks, which rose half a percent to 277.02. Most of the technology index rose .43 percent to 299.45, while the biomed issues closed at 728.90, up .09 percent. The oil and gas index rose .06 percent to 1,194.73, while the communications and media stocks declined .39 percent to 659.00.
