Danino: Big Changes in Police 100 Hotline This Year

Police Commissioner Yochanan Danino said in a press conference Sunday morning that he was planning major changes in the 100 call system that most Israelis use to contact police. Currently, when an Israeli dials 100 to summon police in an emergency, they speak to a police woman, many of whom are very young and are in the midst of their army service, and are very inexperienced.

Instead, Danino plans to staff the call centers with more experienced individuals – both police officers who have been on staff for years, as well as post-army students who will receive special training. Danino said that he had set this year “as one of great changes in the police department, changes that we can move forward with in the coming years.”
