Shepherd Sues State over Cattle Theft

Abraham Shoval, a shepherd from Maale Shlomo near Kochav Hashachar, has been suffering in recent years from thefts of his sheep and goats by Palestinian Authority Arabs.

Shoval, who was left almost penniless from the thefts, has asked the State to compensate him but has been offered only 50,000 shekels. On Thursday, he told Arutz Sheva that the PA Arabs are waging an ideological war on Jewish shepherds and are trying to eliminate them. He said that instead of the State supporting the shepherds it mocks them and leaves them destitute.

“I was robbed several times,” Shoval said, adding, “The thieves were released after a plea bargain and now I’m being offered a ridiculous amount in compensation. They stole 410 sheep, and I was offered a ridiculous amount of 50,000 shekels. An appraiser determined that the cumulative damage caused to me is estimated at 2.5 million shekels. Instead of the State supporting us, I was forced today to sue my country.”
