The mass release of terrorist prisoners in exchange for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit was a national disaster, attorney Zev Desberg said Tuesday, addressing the Jerusalem Conference. The release will do damage in both the short term and long term, he added.
The Shalit family acted properly, he clarified, and it is the government, not the family, that bears responsibility for terrorist release.
Desberg’s sister Efrat and her husband Yaron were murdered in a terrorist attack. He filed last-minute appeals over plans to release the couple’s murderers, but was unsuccessful.
