The Knesset Finance Committee approved for first reading, Tuesday, a bill to extend old age pensions for widows and housewives born before 1931, who were not covered by the law that was passed that year.

The bill's sponsor, Finance CommitteechairmanMosheGafni, said that"it isrepairinga historic injustice. The lawpassedin 1961stipulatesthat whoeverwas a homemakeruntilthe age of 65receivea pension, butwhountil the time ofthe law'seffect, did not work, does not receive theallowance. That does not make senseanddoes not deserve".
