Ministers Endorse 'Lapid Law'

The Ministerial Committee on Legislation voted 9-3, Sunday afternoon, to endorse a bill by Member of Knesset Yariv Levin (Likud) which would require anyone running for Knesset to apply for registration as a party. The proposal has been called "the Lapid Law" because it focuses on Yair Lapid, who has declared his intention to run for Knesset without declaring his intent to join an established party.

MK Levin said, "Lapid must show a minimal amount of public decency and reveal his sources of funding, pending the passage of the proposal. All of the public has a right to know "where the money is from," and the we must ensure the transparency and purity of the election process."
