The Nurses Federation announced, Thursday, that it would strike the public health system for 24 hours, Sunday, following a lack of progress in a meeting with Ilan Levin, the Treasury's man in charge of wages. Nurses have recently walked off the job in a number of hospitals over the admission of patients above numbers agreed upon, based on staffing levels.
The strike will take the form of nurses working on a Shabbat schedule at health-fund community clinics, Tipat Chalav infant-care stations, health ministry offices and schools, in addition to hospitals.
