Several prayer vigils were held across the country for the recovery of Rabbi Yaakov Yosef. The influential religious leader has been recently diagnosed with an illness. A prayer vigil was held at the Western Wall in Jerusalem led by the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger and the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Amar.
His son told Arutz Sheva's Hebrew language news service, "The chemotherapy treatments are very difficult, yet may father persists and gives Torah lessons."
Rabbi Yosef is the head of a yeshiva in Jerusalem, a former member of Knesset and the son of the former Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef.
