Nir Barkat, the mayor of Jerusalem and Yisrael Katz, the head of the Ministry of Transportation announced 32 new roads in the eastern section of the capital. Minister Katz stated, "we are strengthening Jerusalem in every way possible, both to get into Jerusalem as well as within Jerusalem for every sector of the population that lives here. We need to strengthen Jerusalem as the united capital, and to show that we are concerned for every citizen.”
The multi-million shekel plan will take place over the next five years. The plan is consistent with Mayor Barkat's master plan to improve all neighborhoods in the city regardless of ethnic or religious demographics.
