Police released, Tuesday morning, a resident of the Judean Jewish community of Bat Ayin who was suspected of throwing a rock at bus, driven by an Arab, which entered the Gush Etzion community on Monday evening. Under terms of the release, the suspect will be under house arrest for five days.
The driver claimed a number of rocks were thrown at him after he refused the requests of community residents to leave. Soldiers who were sent to the scene said they heard a number of youths talking about throwing rocks and arrested one of the youths who, they claimed, was involved in the incident. The youth's hand was broken as a result of violence exerted by the soldiers but he was not taken to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital until after lengthy interrogationat the Gush Etzion police station. From Hadassah, he was taken to the Russian Compound jail in Jerusalem, where he spent the night before the police informed the Honenu legal-aid organization of his release.
