State Prosecutors told Uri Yoeli, a confidant of former president Moshe Katzav, Thursday, that they will not initiate proceedings against him on suspicion he disrupted the investigation into sexual assault charges against Katzav, who is serving a seven-year sentence on a rape conviction. Yoeli was suspected of trying to insure the silence of the women who filed complaints against Katzav.
Prosecutors felt there were problems with evidence in the case, especially given the more than 10 years that had passed since Yoeli's alleged actions.
