The Shomron (Samaria) Regional Council announced, on Thursday, that it was ready for the storm that is expected to bring snow to the area on Shabbat. A special interoffice team was set up to coordinate activities of the various local councils and coordinate with the Israel Defense Forces regarding snow removal from major traffic arteries.
The council will monitor the situation Saturday night for possible effects on school transportation on Sunday morning, which was expected to be normal. The council advised residents to stalk up on provisions for use in case of power outages. If the snow sticks, the region looks forward to visitors making the 20-minute drive from the Sharon area and other parts of Israel.
