The "Payis" National Lottery company officially launced a Torah-based composition competition on Thursday. The organization will accept compositions through May 1st on the subject "Acquire a friend." A committee of rabbis and other education instructors from the religious Zionist public will judge the entries. The writer of the winning entry will receive a 20,000 shekel prize and have his or her "innovations" published in hardcover by the Or Hachayim book chain.

Joining Payis Chairman Uzi Dayan for the ceremony were Rabbis Ya'akov Ariel, Zalman Melamed and Ya'akov Shapira. The rabbis warmly thanked Payis and Dayan for the welcomed activity and the great merit of encouraging Torah study.
