Shoah Director Claims False Accusation by Security

In an open letter to Haaretz Newspaper, 86-year-old director Claude Lanzmann said he was falsely accused of sexual harassment by a female security guard at Ben Gurion International airport. Lanzmann wrote that the security guard was very particular and insisted upon checking his bags three times. Lanzmann said he gave the guard "one accolade around her shoulders", a French expression meaning a hug and pat on the back to try and ease the tension. He said 5 minutes later the guard accused him of sexual harassment and he was detained and fingerprinted by airport security.

Lanzmann is the director of the critically documentary Shoah, as well as Pourquoi Israel, Sobibor, Oct. 14, 1943, 4 p.m, and Tsahal.
