A new documentary which traces the life of Avraham “Yair” Stern, who founded and led the Lehi militant Zionist organization, was shown on Monday at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque. The documentary was filmed by Stern’s son, Yair, on the 70th anniversary of his father’s assassination by British officers.

The film begins in Poland, continues in the Land of Israel in the 1920s and 1930s, moves on to Florence where Stern began working on his Ph.D., returns to Poland where he ran underground activities in the 1930s and then comes back to Israel and to the apartment in which he was murdered. The documentary will be screened on Tuesday at the Begin Heritage Center and will also be shown on Channel 1 television this coming Sunday.
