Peres: Keeping Peace with Jordan, Egypt is Important

President Shimon Peres said, Monday morning, "The matter of the greatest importance for us is peace - preserving the peace which has already been achieved with Jordan and Egypt during this period of instability and the continued promotion of the peace process with the Palestinians. As someone who has spent all his life promoting peace, I know that the difficulties are part of process and not its end and we must continue to strive to achieve peace."

Peres's comments came at the opening of a working meeting with Croatian President Ivo Josipović. Peres cited Croatia for what he called its important and responsible role within the framework of the European Union. Citing Israel's successes in many fields of endeavor, President Josipović expressed his hopes for the achieving of peace.
