The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is scheduled to discuss the impact of cuts to the Defense Ministry budget, Tuesday morning. The ministry claims that if it does not receive budget supplements it has requested, it will have to curtail essential programs, such as the Iron Dome anti-missile system and the Mercava tank. Also at risk are training days for regular and reserve soldiers.
The Finance Ministry has accused the defense establishment of creating "spins" to interfere with the political echelon's ability to make decisions and establish priorities. It noted that the budget is at a record size.
