The 22nd of Shvat has been selected as Gush Katif Day, the date of the founding of the first Gush Katif town, Netzer Hazani, 35 years ago. Since the expulsion six-and-a-half years ago, only religious elementary schools recognized and marked the day, but this year, some 75 secular schools will feature special memorial activities and lectures from some 120 former residents of Gush Katif, to paticipate in the experience.
