Massive prayers were scheduled for 10:30, Thursday evening at the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem and other locations around the country for ailing Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. One of the organizers said the prayers will include an appeal at midnight to G-d's 13 attributes of mercy. He added that the prayers repay, in form, the prayers that the 101-year-old rabbi organized during the Second Lebanon War.
Among the other places hosting prayers are Bnei Brak, The Cave of the Patriarchs/Me'arat Hamachpela in Hevron, Elad, Kiryat Sefer, Samaria (Shomron) and places where there are large concentrations of hareidim and other religious Jews. The organizers cited doctors at Sha'arei Tzedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, where the rabbi was admitted for shortness of breath, who said that prayers are the only thing that are keeping the rabbi alive.
